Gun Lake Casino Logo Released to Public

Today the Gun Lake Tribe released the official logo of the Gun Lake Casino, its gaming and entertainment complex in Wayland Township. The logo was developed by the Tribe and its management partner Station Casinos, Inc., with the help of a Native American artist.

"With the help of many great minds we were able to embody what this is all about; a Native-owned casino that will help us regain homelands and preserve our traditional culture while improving our standard of living for the next seven generations to come," said D.K. Sprague, Tribal Chairman.

The Gun Lake Casino logo evolved from the idea of using a tribal appliqué design commonly seen on Pottawatomi regalia (clothing). The casino logo is a contemporary use of the traditional Pottawatomi design of the appliqué. The casino logo subtly blends in the four playing card suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades) with a reverse color scheme to create an upscale yet gracious persona.

"Together the Tribe and Station Casinos have developed a recognizable name and a quality logo that is one of the key elements to marketing the first-class product that is the Gun Lake Casino. This logo will begin the process of capturing the brand of our product," said Richard St. Jean, General Manager of the Gun Lake Casino.

The Tribe and Station Casinos worked together to determine the right theme, color pattern, and design of the logo. Native artist David Shananaquet played a key role in drawing and designing the logo for reproduction. The Gun Lake Casino will feature subtle Native American influences throughout the facility.

"This is another exciting step forward for the Gun Lake Casino. The Tribal Council and I are very pleased with the logo and the brand image being created by our development team," said John Shagonaby, CEO and Vice Chairman.

The Gun Lake Tribe released the logo today at the Kalamazoo Regional Chamber of Commerce's Business & Technology Expo hosted by the Radisson Plaza Hotel & Suites in Kalamazoo, Mich.
